2020 Forward Turn Youth Advisors

The Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties announces the 2020 grant recipients of the Forward Turn youth grantmaking program.

Each year, Forward Turn Youth Advisors request proposals and review grant applications from their peers. This year, Forward Turn received $16,000 in requests from youth-led projects and organizations, with $3,500 available to grant.  Learning how to score and evaluate proposals and interviewing their peers are cornerstones of the Forward Turn program.

This year, the Forward Turn Youth Advisors awarded the following grants:

  • $1,500 to Dulles South Food Pantry, to support the Backpack Buddies program, implemented with youth support and volunteers
  • $1,000 to Mobile Hope, to support cooking classes for at-risk youth, led by a youth volunteer
  • $1,000 to Loudoun Habitat for Humanity, supporting youth-led construction of planter boxes for program participants, completed by the Briar Woods High School Habitat Club

Forward Turn partners with Loudoun County Parks, Recreation, and Community Services’ Youth Advisory Council and is funded by the S. Murray and Mary H.C. Rust Student Philanthropy Project endowment of the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties.
