The Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties and its donor-advised fund, the Loudoun Community Cabinet, announced a new grant opportunity to support the advancement of workforce housing in Loudoun County.

The Loudoun Community Cabinet will grant up to $350,000 to nonprofit organizations to further their capacity to improve workforce housing production in Loudoun, leverage other funding, and model innovative workforce housing strategies in Loudoun.

The Loudoun Community Cabinet was established in 2019 as a component fund of the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties and is comprised of local philanthropists who seek to leverage their voices and resources to address human service gaps in Loudoun County through high-impact grantmaking and community initiatives.

In addition to its grantmaking, the Cabinet is a primary investor in the Community Foundation’s recent launch of Workforce Housing Now public-awareness campaign addressing the lack of workforce housing availability in Loudoun County.

Dr. Bill Hazel, Chair of the Loudoun Community Cabinet and Senior Deputy Executive Director of the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation noted that, “Crucial workers like health care providers, teachers, and emergency responders cannot afford to live in Loudoun. The Cabinet’s goal is to help our community understand that ‘housing is foundational’ and inspire others to help address this serious gap in our community.”

Grant proposals ranging between $50,000 to $350,000 will be considered. Applications are due September 30, 2022. More information as well as the grant guidelines and online application form can be found at https://communityfoundationlf.org/grant-seekers/ or by contacting the Community Foundation’s Vice President of Grants and Nonprofit Programs, Nicole Acosta, at (703) 779-3505 X3 or [email protected].
