About the Workshop

This workshop will help nonprofits understand how to effectively work with local news outlets to share your organization’s story with the public.

Training presentations will be provided by Renss Greene, Deputy Editor, Loudoun Now, and Jay Korff, Reporter with ABC7 News, followed by a panel discussion including Renss Greene, Jay Korff, Karen Graham, Community Editor, Loudoun Times-Mirror, and Melinda Gipson, Editor in Chief, Leesburg Lifestyle Magazine.

· How and when to pitch your organization’s story to local media

· Understanding differences between local print and TV news

· Developing successful relationships with local journalists

· Understanding behind the scenes how local print and TV news develop stories

About the Nonprofit Academy
In partnership with the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce and its Nonprofit Initiative, the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties launched an ongoing workshop and training program for area nonprofits called the Nonprofit Academy. Each year, more than 200 attendees join workshops on fundraising, administration and HR, and publicity and outreach.
